Abstract
The development of treatment protocols for mandibular full fixed prostheses (FFP) using four implants instead of five or six implants has been encouraged by the results from implant load analyses and clinical investigations. Malo et al presented clinical documentation on the "All-on-4" immediate function concept in which two anterior implants were placed axially, and two posterior implants were tilted distally and splinted to support the full fixed prostheses.
This patient had mandibular edentulous ridge with opposing natural dentition, and had problems in using mandibular complete denture for many years. Four implants were placed anterior to the mental foramen using the "All-on-4" immediate function concept. The use of 30 ¨¬ tilted distal implants in a full fixed prostheses allowed the reduction of the distal cantilever and thus the reduction of the stresses generated in the prosthesis could help reduce maintenance problems of mandibular FFP with conventional configuration.
